Services

Estate & Wealth Preservation Planning

We provide sophisticated estate and business planning services to families, businesses, and entrepreneurs throughout the State of Maine. Discovering the best future for your family or business begins with your story—not ours. Although we offer plenty of ideas on how to get there, we always listen to your needs and dreams.

Our estate planning services are built on clear communication and deep experience that provides you with the peace of mind that your wishes will endure. The process begins with a brief, introductory phone call. We then ask clients to fill out an estate planning questionnaire prior to our first meeting. We then draft documents and schedule additional meetings as needed.

Our customized strategies start with your insight on your goals, assets, and family dynamics. We then outline solutions that meet your needs and craft documents you can understand. Our planning solutions start with a powerful, but competitively priced, suite of foundational estate documents. These include Will, a Durable Power of Attorney, an Advance Health Care Directive and, if appropriate, a Revocable, or “Living,” Trust.

We also offer sophisticated strategies that leverage the tax-efficient planning required to address more complex asset portfolios and client goals. These strategies can cover a wide range of tactics, including GRATs, qualified personal residence trusts, installment sales, grantor trusts, family limited partnerships, charitable gifts to trusts, foundations or donor advised funds, and the use of life insurance trusts and split dollar agreements.

Whenever needed, we partner with professional peers in developing your plan. These peers may include your accountant, investment advisor, life insurance agent, and financial planner, or a new advisor we can recommend.
