Brann & Isaacson Welcomes Former Federal Prosecutor David Joyce as Partner
Brann & Isaacson, a law firm with offices in both Lewiston and Portland, Maine, is pleased to announce that David Joyce has joined the firm as a Partner in its Litigation practice. David joins B&I after two decades of federal prosecutorial experience, most recently as Assistant United States Attorney.
Throughout his 17-year tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, David led hundreds of grand jury investigations and served as first-chair in trials across a variety of matters, including corporate misconduct, health care fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, environmental crimes, and violent narcotics trafficking. He most recently served as Senior Litigation Counsel, where he mentored attorneys across the office and provided ethics guidance. He also completed a term assignment as Chief Inspector for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
David began his legal career as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Gene Carter in the District of Maine. He spent three years at the Justice Department’s Environmental Crimes Section in Washington, D.C., contributing to high-profile investigations including the BP Texas City refinery explosion and the discharge of heavy fuel oil into San Francisco Bay by the M/V Cosco Busan.
David holds a Doctor of Public Health from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill; a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law (Order of the Coif, magna cum laude); a Master’s in Marine Policy from the University of Miami; and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Williams College. He was a regular instructor at the Justice Department’s National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina, where he presented on ethics and electronic discovery.
