Brann & Isaacson Recognized Nationally for Leadership in Litigation & Intellectual Property
Brann & Isaacson, a law firm with offices in both Lewiston and Portland, Maine, has been recognized for its leadership in litigation and intellectual property.
The 2026 edition of Benchmark Litigation has named B&I attorneys Stacy Stitham, Peter Brann, and David Swetnam-Burland as “Litigation Stars.” Known as the definitive guide to the world’s leading litigation firms and lawyers, Benchmark Litigationranked the firm as highly recommended for Dispute Resolution. In the same month, IP STARS—a global authority on intellectual property professionals—named the same attorneys, Stacy Stitham, Peter Brann, and David Swetnam-Burland, as “IP Stars” and recommended B&I for its IP practice.
“This recognition reflects the depth of our litigation and intellectual property practices, but more importantly, it speaks to how we partner with our clients,” said Stacy Stitham, Managing Partner of B&I. “Whether we’re navigating complex IP disputes, representing clients before state and federal courts, or providing strategic counseling, our focus is always the same: thoughtful advocacy, meticulous preparation, and a practical understanding of each client’s business.”
B&I is known nationally for its litigation practice. The firm has briefed and argued two major tax cases in the U.S. Supreme Court. It has also filed numerous “friend-of-the-court” briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and elsewhere on behalf of some of the largest retailers and retail organizations in the country. Its attorneys handle appeals in all but one of the U.S. Courts of Appeals and regularly argue in state appellate courts from Maine to California.
Its intellectual property practice, meanwhile, is among the strongest in Maine and a leader on the national stage. The firm’s attorneys advise organizations, from local start-ups to brand-name companies with large trademark and copyright portfolios, on the proper care of their intellectual property. The firm has litigated patent, trademark, trade dress, and copyright cases in the International Trade Commission and in federal court in over 20 states.
