Brann & Isaacson Builds on Investigative Experience with Investigations Practice

Brann & Isaacson today announced the formal launch of its investigations practice with a team of five attorneys experienced in conducting complex investigations for clients in the public and private sectors. The practice serves businesses, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, municipalities, law enforcement agencies, law firms, and individuals requiring sophisticated investigative counsel.

“When organizations face allegations of misconduct or an unexpected crisis, they need an experienced investigator who can establish the facts promptly, while preserving trust in the process,” said Stacy Stitham, Managing Partner. “Our team conducts independent investigations that help clients understand what happened, meet their legal obligations, and move forward with fair solutions.”

Brann & Isaacson’s attorneys are experienced in civil and criminal investigations, workplace complaints, Title IX proceedings, education investigations, law enforcement internal affairs, professional licensing matters, and government inquiries.

The firm’s lawyers have conducted many sensitive investigations in Maine, ranging from hazing allegations on a Maine high school hockey team to fatal accidents, to high profile complaints made against public officials.

The practice draws on the experience of attorneys Peter Lowe, Hanna Wurgaft, Dan Stockford, David Bertoni and David Joyce. The hiring of David Joyce in 2025, a former federal prosecutor, has added a new dimension to the investigations team, as David has many years of experience with grand jury investigations and criminal prosecutions.
