B&I University Webinar on Tariffs and What a SCOTUS Ruling Could Mean for Your Business
The Supreme Court heard several hours of oral argument today in the Trump tariff case, a showdown with a potentially seismic impact on every e-commerce business importing goods from abroad. The stakes are real, as you already know: costs are up, margins are pinched, and let’s not even get into inventory planning in a world in which the government can declare an unexpected emergency and immediately impose unannounced tariffs.
Next week, B&I and our friends at the ACMA are joining forces once again for a straight-talk webinar on what this fight could mean for your business if the Court sides one way or the other, and what you should be doing right now to brace for impact. B&I Partner David Swetnam-Burland, co-author of a friend-of-the-court brief filed in the case, will cover:
- How the argument went for the federal government, the states, and the private parties;
- How an endorsement of the tariffs could affect import costs, product pricing, and profit margins;
- What to expect if the tariffs are struck down;
- Practical steps to protect your supply chain and cash flow from sudden changes; and
- Early signs that your competitors may already be adjusting.
Although the Supreme Court asked a lot of questions about legal theory, we’ll focus on the business impact. After all, it’s your bottom line on the line. We’ll try to give you a peek at what’s coming so you can begin proactive planning, rather than just waiting to see what happens.
